About the Business
Petals Florist of Plymouth originally began life at the old Co-op supermarket in Transit Way. Present Proprietor, Shirley Haughey, started commercial floristry in the supermarket stall back in 1986 and after a short period, became supervisor over 7 staff of what was going to be an exciting beginning of Petals.
During this time at Transit Way, Petals were responsible for servicing all local Co-op Funeral Directors in the Plymouth area as well as busily providing day to day fresh arrangements, bouquets & gifts.
Sadly the Co-op closed in January 2001, redundancies ensued & the store was subsequently acquired by Tesco to which it still remains today. Petals however, remained a fully functioning business & was re-located as an independent florist shop within the popular city centre West End's Pannier Market Hall.
